Sensu to be acquired by Sumo Logic

I am excited to announce that Sensu has entered into an agreement to be acquired by Sumo Logic (Nasdaq: SUMO), the pioneer in continuous intelligence. The acquisition will complement Sensu’s observability strategy by providing customers with a mature and comprehensive Observability Suite including log management, observability data platform, analytics, visualizations, and more. In addition, the acquisition will reinforce Sensu’s long standing commitment to open source thanks to Sumo Logic’s membership and active contributions to the Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF) and work on OpenTelemetry. Following the acquisition, the Sensu brand will remain intact and Sensu will continue to be made available as a standalone product.

Why Sensu & Sumo Logic?

Sensu users will benefit from added-value services including comprehensive turn-key integrations with the Sumo Logic Observability Suite. A streamlined onboarding experience for new users will also contribute to continued growth of the Sensu Community. Sumo Logic customers will benefit from the addition of new infrastructure and application monitoring capabilities to the Sumo Logic Observability Suite.

Sumo Logic’s core product already supports many of the same open source observability tools as Sensu, including Graphite and Prometheus metrics, and OpenTelemetry traces – providing Sensu users with a complementary observability data platform for the Sensu observability pipeline.

What’s next?

Sensu remains committed to open source and our mission to deliver the class-leading observability pipeline that delivers monitoring as code on any cloud. Sensu will continue active development of its product roadmap – including integrations with a wide variety of third-party tools – with additional investment from Sumo Logic. We expect the acquisition will accelerate product improvements that have been in high-demand from the Sensu Community – including support for OpenTelemetry.
