That new new. New software, new branding, new website, new financing, new board members, and new jobs. Oh my!
I’m very pleased to announce that Sensu Inc has raised $10M in Series A financing led by Battery Ventures, with participation by seed-stage investor Foundry Group. Dharmesh Thakker (General Partner, Battery Ventures) will join Ryan McIntyre (Managing Director, Foundry Group), Sean Porter (Co-founder, CTO) and myself on Sensu’s Board of Directors. We’re also very happy to share that Luke Kanies (Founder, Puppet) will round things out as Sensu’s first independent Board Member.
It feels like almost yesterday that we were announcing our Series Seed financing and the formation of Sensu Inc (January 2017). We were a team of seven back then. When we closed this financing on March 2, 2018 we were 20 people. We had five people start last week, with two more joining us next week. Sensu Inc will be 50 employees by the end of 2018. The infusion of new capital into Sensu will allow us to continue making investments in Engineering the future of Sensu, along with a full complement of go-to-market support (Community, Marketing, Product, Sales, and Customer Success). If you’re passionate about monitoring, please come join us – we’re hiring!

This growth has allowed us to lay the groundwork for Sensu 2.0 — the next-generation monitoring framework which became publicly available in February. With the Sensu 2.0 “beta” milestone just around the corner, and GA planned for later this year, we are thrilled about what this new foundation means for the rapidly growing Sensu community. The original Sensu project turns 7-years old (!) this July – but with new companies discovering and adopting Sensu every day, it’s becoming more and more clear that we’re just getting started. It is our hope that Sensu 2.0 will provide a platform for the next 5–10 years of growth. We can’t wait to see what you do with it.
Oh, there’s one more thing…
The original “Sensu fan” logo lives on inside of the new logo. But that green color only-a-mother-could-love has been replaced with a softer green + complementary color scheme. Still… LONG LIVE THE #81c000!
To celebrate all this growth, and acknowledge how far the Sensu project, community, and company have come, we’re also unveiling a complete refresh of the Sensu brand. A new logo, new website, new domain (hello, sensu.io), and new colors! This new branding went live on the Sensu website earlier this week, and should roll out more pervasively throughout the various Sensu properties over the next several weeks. I’m particularly proud of the work our team has done on this project, and I hope you enjoy it. We will have more words to share around some of the thoughtful details that went into this rebrand soon; in the meantime, start making plans on where to find us at an upcoming event to get your new Sensu swag. The new Sensu t-shirts are going to be 🔥!
