What is Sensu Summit?
Sensu Summit is our second annual user conference, offering two full days of keynotes, talks, demos, and hanging out with your peers. Whether you’re a beginner, intermediate, or advanced user of Sensu, this year’s Summit will help you better understand the problems Sensu can solve and offer facetime with the community and engineers building Sensu. Sessions will cover the topics ops engineers care about most, from Kubernetes to monitoring your multi-generational data centers.
Sensu Summit 2018 will host around 200 folks in the ops and monitoring communities, including evangelists in the open source and monitoring space and the engineers building Sensu.
When and where is Sensu Summit 2018?
Sensu Summit 2018 is August 22-23 at the Portland Art Museum/Mark Building in Portland, Oregon. There are a variety of activities that attendees can register for. Here’s a breakdown of the schedule:
- Tuesday, August 21: Customer Advisory Board and Technical Advisory Board meetings - by invitation only
- Wednesday, August 22: Keynotes and track sessions followed by the After Party taking place at the museum Sculpture Mall
- Thursday, August 23: Community Day - We’ll have keynotes and talks from community members in the morning and we’ll have lots of tutorials, lightning talks and other learning opportunities in the afternoon in an unconference style event.

How do I convince my boss to let me go?
We’ve got you covered! Check out our Dear Boss blog post which includes a letter template you can use to highlight the value of attending Sensu Summit. Make sure you also let your boss know that the sooner you register, the more you will save on your conference pass.
Where should I stay?
We’ve organized a special discounted rate for attendees at the following hotels: The Porter Hotel and Hotel Modera. You will find discount codes for both hotels on the Sensu Summit website. Enjoy staying in the heart of Portland - think delicious food and culture - all within an easy stroll to the conference venue.
What should I wear?
Sensu Summit attendees are encouraged to wear casual or business casual attire. You’ll also receive a Sensu t-shirt when you check in at the registration desk (while supplies last).
What meals are included?
Breakfast will be served Wednesday Aug 23 and Thursday Aug 24. It wouldn’t be a Portland conference without a donut or two — look for them on Thursday morning!
Lunch is on your own with plenty of food carts and farmers’ markets to choose from nearby to satisfy every appetite. Afternoon snacks will be provided each day.
The Sensu Summit After Party will be Wednesday Aug 23 at 5:30 pm. Enjoy snacks, drinks, and great conversations with your friends.
What about dietary restrictions and allergies?
We are taking every precaution to ensure gluten free, vegetarian, and vegan options are offered. If present, common allergens will be labeled.
What and when is the Community Day? Should I attend?
Thursday, August 23 is Community Day. We’ll have lots of great information for folks who are interested in learning from our community of users and getting their hands on Sensu! We’ll have short talks, hands on labs, and discussions in an unconference style setting.
What is the cancellation and refund policy for Sensu Summit?
You can cancel your event registration up to 180 days after registering to receive a 100% refund. After that, you can change the name on the registration.

Is there WiFi on-site?
Yes! We will have signs throughout the conference space noting the WiFi connection information.
Am I able to download the presentations?
Presentations will be available for download following the event. All registered attendees will receive a link to the slides once they are available.
Is the venue handicap accessible?
Yes. The Mark Building’s entrance is accessible via a ramp located just south of the main steps.
Is there a code of conduct?

How do I get there and/or park my car?
In addition to metered street parking, City Center Parking manages the parking lot adjacent to the Museum at the corner of SW Park Avenue and Main Street.
Public transportation to the museum is available through TriMet’s network of fully accessible bus and Max lines. The Museum entrance is located: 300 feet from the Art Museum stop on the NS and A Loop Streetcar Lines 0.1 miles from the NS and B Loop Streetcar Lines stop at SW 11th and Jefferson Approximately 500 feet from the 10th and Jefferson bus stop which serves lines 6, 38, 45, 55, 58, 68, 92, and 96. Will there be a designated room for nursing moms?
Yes! The Sensu Summit team and museum staff will be happy to direct you.
